Terms of use
The rules for using Random Duck Race, kept as short and readable as we could make them.
1. Accepting these terms
By using Random Duck Race (the “Service”) at randomduckrace.com you agree to these Terms of Use. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service. Simple as that.
2. Who runs it
Random Duck Race is made and run by an independent developer based in Vietnam (an individual, not a company). “We” and “us” in these terms mean that developer. You can reach us at support@randomduckrace.com.
3. The Service
Random Duck Race is a free, browser-based educational and event utility tool: you race up to 1,000 ducks to pick names at random, run classroom activities, team games and events, host livestreams — or just have fun. Rooms let players join a race from their own phones. No account is needed. The Service is provided free of charge, “as is” and “as available”, and is paid for by advertising. It has no paid plan; if we ever offer paid features, they will come with their own terms, shown before you pay.
4. Accounts
An account is optional and is made by signing in with Google. You need to be at least 13 to make one, or older where the law where you live says so (16 in some countries of the European Union) unless a parent or guardian agrees. Students never need an account to play: teachers and hosts do. Keep your Google account safe, and tell us if you think someone else is using yours. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.
5. Your responsibilities
You agree to:
- use the Service legally and respectfully;
- not enter names, chat messages or pictures that are illegal, hateful, harassing or that you have no right to use;
- not try to break, overload, hack or reverse-engineer the Service or its room server;
- not use bots, scripts or other tools to interfere with races or rooms, or to make share links or result pages in bulk.
If you host a room, you are responsible for the room: who you let in, the chat, and the picture you upload as its background.
6. Allowed uses (go wild!)
You’re welcome to use Random Duck Race for:
- classroom activities and random student selection;
- office games, team building, and deciding who does the coffee run;
- YouTube, Twitch, TikTok or any livestream and video — including free giveaways (see section 8);
- family and friends entertainment, events and parties;
- embedding the race on your own website with the embed code we provide.
7. Prohibited uses (please don’t)
- gambling, betting or any wagering of money or anything of value on race results;
- paid raffles, lotteries, sweepstakes or any draw that people must pay, buy something or give anything of value to enter;
- any prize draw, promotion or contest that breaks the law where it is run or where its entrants live;
- copying, rehosting or framing the game other than through our embed code;
- selling access to the Service, or presenting it as your own;
- using it to harass, bully or harm anyone.
8. Giveaways, prizes and results
A race result is a random pick for fun, learning or deciding something: it has no monetary value, and Random Duck Race is not a gambling, betting or lottery service. If you use a race to give away a prize, you are the organiser: you set the rules, choose who may enter, hand out the prize and make sure your giveaway follows the law where you run it (including rules on promotions, prize draws and lotteries, and any registration or permits they require). We don’t run, sponsor, endorse or check any giveaway, and we aren’t responsible for prizes, entrants or disputes about them. We may remove content or links connected with a draw that breaks these terms.
9. Ownership
The code, design, graphics, duck skins, music, sounds and everything else that makes up the Service belong to Random Duck Race and its creator. You may not copy, clone, sell or redistribute them without written permission. Linking to us, sharing results and screenshots, and showing the race in your videos and streams are all welcome — we love that.
Pictures of the game. Our screenshots and share images may be used to write about, review, teach with or link to Random Duck Race, with the credit “Random Duck Race” and a link to randomduckrace.com. For anything else, such as ads, merchandise or another product, ask us first.
10. What you put in
The names, messages and pictures you enter stay yours, and you are responsible for them. By entering them you confirm you have the right to use them. Room content is deleted when the room ends; share links and result pages are kept for a limited time and can be removed sooner; see the privacy policy for details. We may remove content, a result page or a share link, or end a room, that breaks these terms.
11. Suspending or ending access
We may limit, suspend or end access to the Service, a room or an account that breaks these terms or puts the Service or other people at risk. You can stop using the Service at any time, and ask us to delete your account.
12. No warranty (it’s free ducks, not NASA)
We work hard to keep the Service running smoothly and fairly, but we can’t promise it will always be available, error-free or work perfectly on every device — or that your favourite duck will win. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from using the Service, including from a giveaway or a decision made with it. Use it at your own risk. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that the law says cannot be limited.
13. Third-party services
The Service uses third-party providers (see the privacy policy) and lets you share to other platforms; their own terms apply to their services. The Service is free and is paid for by advertising: ads are chosen and delivered by Google (see the privacy policy), and we are not responsible for the content of third-party ads or the sites they lead to. Please don’t click ads on purpose to “help” us, or ask others to: it breaks Google’s rules and can stop the ads that keep the game free.
14. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Vietnam. If a disagreement comes up, please write to us first: most things can be sorted out by email. Otherwise, disputes go to the competent courts of Vietnam. If you use the Service as a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and may bring a claim there where those laws allow it.
15. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time; the latest version is always on this page, with the date at the top, and important changes are announced in the changelog. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
